Cameel Halim began his career in the real estate industry when he purchased his first apartment buildings in 1974. By strategically managing and upgrading these properties, he was able to add value to his investments. He utilized this additional equity to purchase more buildings, and in just five years, he had acquired 10 properties in the Chicago suburbs. At this time, Cameel Halim recognized a real estate opportunity in Edgewater and Lakeview, distressed Chicago Uptown neighborhoods that he believed could be revitalized. He went on to purchase hundreds of units in these neighborhoods and successfully renovated the buildings into desirable properties for professional and middle-class occupants.
Due to this success, Halim expanded his portfolio to include larger properties and began investing in other areas, including Cook County and Kenosha, Wisconsin. As the president of CH Ventures, LLC, he now employs hundreds of professionals to facilitate the daily operation of his properties.
Cameel Halim also supports the conservation of historic buildings in Chicago. In 2005, he purchased Skiff House, an architecturally significant home in the Kenilworth neighborhood that a developer wanted to demolish.
